    SURFSET ® 101 – Intro to SURFSET ®

    This class is for beginners and is highly recommended before taking our other Surfset ® classes. SURFSET ® 101 focuses on the basics of the board while focusing on form, core strength, and balance.


    As seen on ABC’s Shark Tank, Surfset ® mimics the physical demands of surfing including balance, strength and cardio. Surfset ® is a total body workout that challenges your balance and stabilizer muscles to create a lean and strong physique.


    A yoga inspired class done in the sand and on the surfboard focusing on balance and stability.


    An innovative class that helps increase strength as well as tone and condition. We use weighted bars and bands on the Surfset ® board to target each individual muscle to help you get that definition you have been looking for.

    TRX ®

    Total body workout developed by a Navy Seal, now offered in our sandbox. This class uses gravity and body weight to develop strength, flexibility and a solid core. TRX ® is a great option for pregnant women and those with injuries.


    A core blasting, muscle engaging, one-of-a-kind class that you can only find at Sandbox Fitness. Combining the best of both, TRX ® and Surfset ®, Tidal Turbulence will challenge every single muscle fiber.


    Bootcamp in the sand. High intensity circuit training utilizing sand resistance, TRX ® and Surfset ®.


    Sandbox Kids

    Fitness class designed for kids incorporating all elements of Sandbox Fitness. Helps release energy, improve coordination, balance and strength. For boys and girls.

    Diella Capizzi

    For the past 16 years Diella has been a dedicated student of Yoga. She enjoys and love every style of Yoga. She mixes precise alignment with gentle care and love for each individual body. Diella follows the philosophy of Patanjali and the 8 limbs of Yoga: Yama: Universal morality. Niyama: Personal observances. Asanas: Body postures. Pranayama: Breathing exercises, and control of prana. Pratyahara: Control of the senses. Dharana: Concentration and cultivating inner perceptual awareness. Dhyana: Devotion, meditation on the Divine. Samadhi: Union with the Divine. If you are looking for a good stretch but still focusing on core strength, and balance her classes will work perfectly for you.

    Rhonda Christensen

    Although Rhonda spent 25 years in the entertainment industry, fitness has always been a part of her life. “Travel, late nights and early mornings were a regular way of life for me and fitness was the way I managed all of it and stayed healthy”. As a personal trainer, Rhonda strives to create workouts suited for her individual needs and fitness goals. Rhonda has been practicing/teaching TRX® for more than 6 years and can structure sessions for all fitness levels, from beginner to advanced and make it effective for everyone. Rhonda’s classes are great for all fitness levels. She really focuses on toning the muscles in the body and always gives proper modifications for those who need.

    Jessica Gilbert

    Born and raised in Southern California fitness has always been a passion of mine. After taking my first class at 16, I fell in love with group fitness, I loved how engaging and encouraging the instructors were and knew it was something I wanted to do. After completing my AFAA® group fitness certification and continuing to learn new formats,including surfset fitness I would love for you to enjoy taking my class as much as I love teaching! Jessica’s classes are great for all levels of fitness. She knows when to push and when to modify. If you want a great full body workout with a mix between cardio and strength take one of her classes.

    Delfina Gimeno

    was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She moved by herself to the United States at the age of 19, spent her first year on the East Coast then moved to Santa Cruz, where she lived for 8 years. She now resides in Los angeles. Delfina’s general focus is on functional training, Pilates, and TRX®. She knows her stuff and her classes are good for all levels. She will make sure you leave feeling the burn.

    Jenna Kinsbursky

    a Southern California native grew up in Calabasas. Growing up in a house where good health, exercise, and playing sports were strongly encouraged helped shape Jenna into who she is today. She has been involved in numerous different sports and always motivated those around her, whether it be in the water, on a race track, or on a bike. Currently Jenna’s passion for fitness is apparent by her work as a PE coach, being a personal trainer, her various fitness classes, and by the way she parents her 2 young children.

    Denah Angel Schenkman

    loves the beach and is so happy to be teaching at Sandbox Fitness. She is a YogaWorks® Certified instructor. She believes in having fun while working out! She loves choreographing the movements to a soundtrack. She believes in slow controlled movements so students can really learn the poses, build muscle and progress over time. Her classes really focus on breathing, deep stretching, and balance. If you want to take your yoga to the next level her classes are great.

    Katie Seigel

    is a Jersey girl who has been passionate about dance, exercise and nutrition for as long as she can remember. She started teaching dance at the age of 14 and has been teaching in some capacity ever since! While studying dance at Towson University in Maryland she worked part time at Gold’s Gym and was approached to become a Group Fitness Instructor. As a professionally trained dancer and dance instructor, it seemed fitting to get her Personal Training and Nutrition Certification. In 2004 she moved from NJ to Los Angeles on a whim, fell in love with the weather and met her husband, so never moved back. She has extensive experience teaching and training people of all age groups. Her specialties are Personal Training (Strength and Conditioning), Bootcamp, Dance, Body Pump, PiYo® (High Intensity Pilates & Yoga Workout) and now Surfset®! Katie is super excited to be a part of the Sandbox Fitness Team! If you want someone with high energy who is fun and engaging, her classes are for you. She keeps you constantly moving at a fast pace and you will leave class feeling amazing.

    Lila Smadja

    My Goal as an athlete is to take my body to the limit. MIND is POWER! As a Fitness Instructor my goal is to make YOU love to workout. To the point that you crave it every day. I started Muay Thai KickBoxing when I was 14 years old. I found my love for cycling not too far after and shortly became an Instructor at Bespun and Legends MMA gym, a pole dance and mixed martial arts specialty gym. My classes there are extremely intense, making sure the athletes get their sweat on. Teaching someone how to round house kick or sprint for 3 minutes on a bike gives me motivation and affirms that this is where I need to be! Using all this intensity I have learned to balance out my life with the mental strength that yoga has given me. As a yoga instructor I want to be the one to release all the stress in the mind, body and soul so that you can live an open and healthy life. Lila likes to push your body to the limit. Her classes are unique, and very challenging.

    Tonni Ratcliff

    is a Virginia native with the mindset of not only is VA for Lovers…so is Training! Being raised in a very athletic and fitness minded family, Tonni wants to make you part of her family, sharing and instilling the love of training and finding the inner athlete. Tonni competed in her first competitive race at the age of 5 and has continued on the athletic trek ever since. Relocating to LA in ’03 with an extensive background in Cross Country and Track and Field even a three-peat Collegiate National Cross Country and Track & Field Champion; Along with running, having a heavy dance background, with Ballet being her major discipline she wanted to further and deepen her experience in overall training. With having such a vast background she continues to use and expand her comprehensive knowledge of sports conditioning and has worked with all ranges from the athletic novice to high level fitness minded individuals. This list also includes Professional Athletes in a variety of sports disciplines….even Olympic Medal winning Athletes! Her goal is to make each class visceral, tangible, sensorial and fun. With this being said, Tonni is thrilled to have developed a hybrid class just for her family at Sandbox -Tidal Turbulence. Tonni currently holds certifications in Personal and Group Training, USA Cross Country and Track & Field Coaching, TRX®, SurfSet®, Spin, Barre, Yoga, and High Performance Training, along with being a certified first responder. If you are looking for some motivation you need to try her classes. She constantly motivates you throughout class and takes you to places your body didn’t even know existed. While her classes are more strength focused you will no doubt walk out feeling the burn and dripping sweat.

    Jesse Shao

    At the age of 15 his older brother, a competitive bodybuilder and power lifter converted Jesse from a video game junkie into a gym rat. As his love for fitness grew, it expanded into sports where he would later play wide receiver and defensive back at Washington State University. Having sustained many injuries from the grueling aspects of football, he concentrated on developing his healing efforts by pursuing his NASM certification®, taking up ballet and boxing. If he seems all over the place, it’s because he is driven by the belief that every individual is more important than any established system or method. Thus, the natures of his workouts constantly strive for a sense of balance between strength, conditioning and functionality.
